We were so impressed when we visited Sandy Lodge earlier in the year we accepted their “winter warmer” invitation and returned on 6th December.

The green keepers were working on several of the bunkers, but that wasn’t a problem. If you got a downhill putt, or even a flat one, the greens were quick, and the roll was perfect.

Nine hearty “HOGS” played at Sandy Lodge on the 6th of December. The course was remarkably dry, despite the recent rain. The clue is in the name of the club, it is built on sand. The weather was kind to us and the rain held off for the whole round.

The winning Team was Vraj Pankhania, Chris Bentham, and Sebastian Hall, well done to them. We all had a great day and would like to hold the event again next year. Once more at Sandy Lodge.

Vraj has suggested that we call it the Curry Cup and go out for a Curry after playing.

Jerry Browne won the HOGS Claret jug with the best individual stableford score – well done Jerry & please look after the re-furbed trophy over the winter break! Regardless of it being a new year – your handicap will be docked 2 shots for the opening HOGS game in 2019! Merry Christmas!!

Everybody really enjoyed themselves and want to do it again next year – Jerry can we add it to our schedule for 2019 please?

We hope we will get more players next year. We did clash with the Varsity Rugby Match this year, and I dare say several Christmas parties. So we will try to be more strategic with the date next time – watch this space.
